Star Valley Ranchos offers access to San Bernardino County conveniences
Star Valley Ranchos exudes the desert ranch lifestyle with its spacious residential lots and minimal commercial development. However, the shops and restaurants of downtown Hesperia are conveniently just under 2 miles away. Drivers can reach Interstate 15 in about 5 miles for big-box retail centers and relatively quick routes to San Bernardino, Riverside and Ontario. Money also goes much farther in Hesperia than in other major Southern California cities. “The No. 1 criteria here is affordability,” says Oscar Garcia, a real estate broker with Century 21, who has worked in the area for three decades. “Homes here are a lot cheaper.” In Star Valley Ranchos, residents can enjoy the privacy and seclusion often associated with Southern California’s High Desert region without sacrificing access to everyday needs and services.
Shopping and dining near I-15 and in downtown Hesperia
Malls, restaurants and shopping plazas surround I-15 and Bear Valley Road. The Victor Valley Mall has dozens of retailers, and nearby big-box grocers and department stores include Walmart, Vons and Stater Bros. Markets. While fast food, casual-dining options and chain restaurants dot the map along these major thoroughfares, downtown Hesperia offers many additional spots for a meal out. The Italian Kitchen serves pasta and pizza, and Olympic Flame Burgers established its first downtown location in 1979. The city also has numerous diners for comfort food, including one of the three Molly Brown’s Country Cafes in the area and Spring House Family Restaurant.
Ranch-style builds in the High Desert, some with large lots
Joshua trees line the neighborhood's wide roads, with most lots covering an acre and separated by fences. Properties feature ranch-style homes with Spanish architectural influences, such as red-tile roofs and stucco facades. Many lots also have enough space to house additional mobile homes, detached multicar garages, recreational vehicles, and, in some cases, horses. Prices tend to fall between $350,000 and $700,000, depending on acreage and recent renovations. Garcia mentions that prices would be at least triple those in Orange County.

Hesperia Lake Park is under 10 miles away for fishing, camping and horseback riding. Residents from all over the city come to the lake each fall for the Hesperia Days celebration, which features a parade, rodeo, live music and vendors. In the winter, the area sometimes gets snow, creating more outdoor adventures. “You have Wrightwood nearby, where you can go in the winter to play in the snow and ski,” Garcia says. Golfers also have plenty of courses to choose from throughout the county, like the public greens of the Hesperia Golf & Country Club. Those looking for more adventure can utilize the surrounding desert terrain for off-roading.
