Eastern suburb of Cleveland full of amenities
Highland Heights' competitive housing market draws families because of the highly rated school district. Convenient access to major highways, public transit, and nearby colleges further enhance the city's allure. Natural amenities, including parks, nature trails with adjacent ponds and marshes, and many golf courses, add to the charm of the Cuyahoga County suburb east of Cleveland.
Homes in Highland Heights hold their value over time
Highland Heights has multiple housing styles throughout the city, including Ranch homes, bungalows, Colonials, and modern condominiums. The inventory in the city mirrors the Cuyahoga County market, which is low. "It's definitely a seller's market," says Realtor Nicole Joeright, who works for Platinum Real Estate. "There are a lot of higher-end homes; the taxes are higher on these properties, and they are valued pretty well, and they hold their value," Joeright says. Starter homes and modest fixer-uppers can start at $125,000, while upscale Colonial homes and expansive Cape Cods reach upwards of $810,000. Newer construction houses cost $950,000 and come with a patio and porch, surrounded by trees. Stonewater Golf Course surrounds homes in the golf community. The median home price in the city is $430,000.
Highland Heights has a low crime rate, with a CAP score of two. The city also has a Vacation House Watch program, where the police department looks after residents' homes while they are away.
Mayfield High School students can enroll in the Excell TECC program
"I would say there are more families who live in Highland Heights because of the school district," Joeright says. Children can attend Millridge Elementary School, which received an A rating from Niche. Mayfield Middle School and Mayfield High School also have A ratings. Students at Mayfield High School can enroll in the Excel TECC program that provides hands-on experiences in various career fields, such as nursing, computer science, and graphic design. Operated by Saint Paschal Baylon Catholic Church, students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade can attend St. Paschal Baylon School, a private school in Highland Heights.
Highland Heights is conveniently located near several colleges and universities, including Ursuline College, John Carroll University, and Notre Dame College.
