Hopewell Township offers country homes close to Maryland
Buyers are often drawn to Hopewell Township in York County for its single-family homes among vast acres of rural farmland. The township also sits near Pennsylvania’s border with Maryland, making it a convenient landing spot for commuters to Baltimore. Residents are settled among rolling hills and cornfields, and shop at local businesses in the borough of Stewartstown or support a network of local farm markets around town. “There are some tax advantages to being in Pennsylvania over Maryland,” says Andrew Spangenberger, a resident of the neighboring town of Shrewsbury and a real estate agent with Cummings & Co. Realtors. “We’re also not as densely populated as Maryland tends to be, which can be a huge draw for some.”
