A valley community
Located on the east side of the Susquehanna River, Hudson is a riverbank borough of Plains Township in Luzerne County. The area is part of the Wyoming Valley region that is known for its historical influence on mining and the Industrial Revolution. Described by local Associate Broker David Rubbico Jr. as a small town “down in the valley,” Hudson is a community that is “very family-oriented; people have stayed here for generations, and they like to stay close to home because [the town] is easy to maneuver and it’s in a convenient location.”
Generational homes in Plains Township
Many Hudson homes were built between the 1920s and the 1950s in Colonial Revival, Foursquare, ranch-style and midcentury traditional architecture. A single-family property with three bedrooms may be priced between $150,000 and $250,000. The average house size is around 1,500 square feet with varying lot sizes. “The home values here stay steady; one attraction for potential homebuyers is that there are industrial parts local to the Interstate 81 Corridor, so there are plenty of job opportunities from major employers such as Amazon, Chewy and Addidas,” says Noah Doncses, a real estate agent at Cobblestone Real Estate LLC and is an expert of the Northeastern Pennsylvania region.
