Crooked Creek

Mid-century homes mixed with more modern styles
Crooked Creek's houses are spread along long residential streets with many trees and few sidewalks. While some homes here date back to the 1920s, most were built in the 1950s and 60s. Many are brick-faced, ranch-style homes. Some Colonial Revivals and split-levels with aluminum siding add to the mid-century vibe. There are also a handful of subdivisions with custom contemporary houses built from the 1990s to the present. Most neighborhood homes sell from $125,000 to just under $360,000 with a median price of $242,000. "If that's your price point, you get the convenience of having everything there on Michigan Road, and you still get to send your kids to decent public schools," says Cara Conde, a veteran Realtor and a top-selling solo agent for F.C. Tucker Company in Indianapolis. "That's actually a good selling point if you have kids."Most neighborhood students attend Washington Township schools
The northwestern corner of Crooked Creek is part of the Metropolitan School District of Pike Township, but most neighborhood students will attend Washington Township schools. The Metropolitan School District of Washington Township has an A-minus rating on Niche and is the No. 2-ranked district in Marion County. Elementary students in the northern part of the neighborhood attend C-plus-rated Willow Lake Elementary, while those in the southern half attend B-plus-rated Crooked Creek Elementary. From there, students may attend B-minus-rated Westlane Middle School, and A-minus-rated North Central High School, which has an International Baccalaureate (IB) program. Sycamore School, Indiana’s only private, independent school for gifted pre-K through eighth grade students, is in Crooked Creek. St. Monica Catholic School also serves K through 8 students in the neighborhood.Michigan Road moves people
Crooked Creek is about 4 miles south of I-465 and 4 miles north of I-65, each of which can be accessed from ramps on Michigan Road. As the dominant traffic carrier and location of commerce and dining, traffic movement along Michigan Road affects residents the most. "There's a lot of cars on Michigan," Conde says. "There are a lot of stoplights. But it moves." The IndyGo 38 Bus has multiple stops on Michigan Road.WISH and Juan Solomon Parks easy to access
WISH Park is an open space in the northern part of neighborhood featuring a playground, swing set and open-air picnic shelter. Juan Solomon Park provides 41 acres of recreational space just east of the neighborhood, including a playground, a wide-open field, tennis courts and walking trails over and around Crooked Creek. An array of international dining delights
