Cozy suburban neighborhood in northeast Indianapolis

Ten miles northeast of downtown Indianapolis, Devonshire is a cozy residential neighborhood where brick homes sit on lush lawns in family-friendly communities. The neighborhood is home to a large urban park, a longstanding golf club and one of Indianapolis' top private schools. Residents dine at an array of local eateries, enjoy live music at a neighborhood grill and spend their summers at the Indiana State Fair. Housing includes single-family homes and condos, and with two manmade lakes in the neighborhood, waterfront options are occasionally available. "Devonshire is an older, established area," says Bob Kincaid, who's sold real estate since 1983 and consistently ranks in the top 7% of Indianapolis real estate agents. "These houses were upscale when they were built, and a lot of them have been recently updated."

Devonshire is bounded by 75th Street, Allisonville Road, 62nd Street, and Keystone Avenue.

Ranch-style, split-level and lakefront homes

Housing in Devonshire is mostly ranch-style and split-level homes, with some midcentury modern and contemporary traditional-style homes mixed in. It's primarily a single-family home community, though some condo options are available. Houses sit on cozy tree-lined residential streets, typically with ample front and back yard space. "Devonshire was mostly developed between the '50s and '70s," Kincaid says. "Though some of the waterfront homes didn't come in until the '80s or later." My neighborhood is safe and a great community of people who support each other. The houses are mostly families and you always see people walking their dogs, walking as a family, going on jogs, and doing yard work. When one member of the community is hurting, we bunch together to help them out by getting groceries, making dinners, or watching kids. My neighbors have driven us home when we had a flat tire and made dinner when a member of my family had surgery.
