Home of Marion County Fair and many new residents
Though its name connotes a busy intersection, Five Points is where the country meets the suburbs in southeast Indianapolis. Named for the triangular meeting point of Troy Avenue, Southeastern Avenue and Five Points Road, the rapidly growing neighborhood of suburban subdivisions is still home to a handful of farm fields and the Marion County Fairgrounds. Nearly 90% of the homes in Five Points were built after 2000. “This is an area for those who want to hide in the middle of suburbia,” says Susan Forrest, Realtor with United Real Estate Indianapolis.

Suburban streetscapes carved from former farmland
Houses in Five Points reflect three stages of the neighborhood’s development. A handful of Craftsman and bungalow-style houses from the 1910s near the Five Points intersection reflect the first wave. Development continued with subdivisions of midcentury ranch-style homes, and then boomed in the 2010s with subdivisions primarily consisting of two-story Traditional houses with attached garages. Quarter-acre and half-acre lots are typical. “The area has become quite popular, and one can buy a bigger home than in other areas of the city,” Forrest says. “In the last five-plus years, there has been a huge boom in new construction.” Prices in the neighborhood range between $190,000 and $350,000.
