A small-town feel with an Indianapolis address
Though it was incorporated into Indy in 1970, New Bethel was a primarily rural area until a 2020s building spree brought multiple subdivisions and a new grade school to these former farm fields 12 miles southeast of downtown. “New Bethel has gotten more popular over the past several years,” says Spartan Realty broker/owner Vicky Carr. “In fact, it has recently been named one of the best places to live in Indiana by Niche and Best Neighborhoods.”
There are many quiet areas of New Bethel with homes that are a bit more spread apart.

Comfortable commute to downtown and airport
Interstate 74 forms one of New Bethel’s boundaries and its conduit for reaching downtown Indianapolis. The 12-mile commute to the heart of downtown takes around 30 minutes. And even though Indianapolis International Airport is 10 miles farther away, the I-465 loop makes it reachable in roughly the same time as a trip downtown. While New Bethel’s subdivisions have winding streets and sidewalks, its mostly rural location makes it a heavily car-dependent neighborhood.

Colored with food dye for an added flair, the sculpture can grow more than 40 feet high and draws curious onlookers from throughout the city each year.
