Rocklane-Reds Corner encompasses quiet living close to downtown Greenwood

As Indianapolis and its surrounding suburbs continue to expand outward, Rocklane-Reds Corner offers rural reprieve 17 miles southeast of the Circle City. Though residents are more likely to run into livestock than department stores, its location provides proximity trips to the local restaurants of Downtown Greenwood and Emerson Avenue shopping. Interstate 65 also borders the west, granting convenient commutes across the greater Indianapolis metro area. The neighborhood’s quiet streets also support its CAP Index Crime Score of 2 out of 10, compared to the national average of 4.

Acreage and home styles vary throughout the community

Nearly all of the community’s narrow roads run parallel to crop fields stretching into the horizon, and many pass over creeks like Little Sugar and Hurricane. Silos, barns and sheds are common sightings, typically accompanying homes situated at the end of long driveways. Adjoining Pastures also appear throughout, as plot sizes range from 2 to 50 acres. These properties feature build dates spanning more than a century and come in various architectural styles, from farmhouses to ranch and new traditional styles. Homebuyers will also find the newly built houses in Grand Vista Subdivision on the west side, which has a community park open only to its homeowners association members. Prices across the neighborhood typically range from $220,000 to $600,000. However, larger newly built or custom homes on more acreage can exceed $800,000 and reach up to $1.5 million.

Southeastway Park, Otte Golf & Family Center and local equestrian facilities

Southeastway Park is 6 miles north and is the area’s hub for outdoor recreation. Trails wind across the 118-acre green space, passing open fields for picnics and pick-up games. Locals can also participate in its numerous programs and activities, from maple syrup and hayrides in the fall to youth summer camps. Otte Golf & Family Fun Center on Sheek Road encompasses an 18-hole golf course, mini golf, batting cages and more. Within the neighborhood are a handful of equestrian facilities, including Four Willows Farms, where visitors can take up horse riding.

High schoolers can earn college credits through Indiana College Core

Clark-Pleasant Community School Corporation serves the community and has a B grade on Niche. Clark Elementary School and Clark-Pleasant Middle School score a B-plus, and Whiteland Community High School receives a B. The high school participates in the Indiana College Core. Enrolled students can earn 30 college credits through the program at Whiteland Community High, which can later transfer to any Indiana public college or university.

Getting around on Interstate 65

Residents can hop on Interstate 65 for a straight-shot commute to Downtown Indianapolis, 17 miles northwest. The throughway also connects to Interstate 465, which travelers can use to reach Indianapolis International Airport, 24 miles away.

Local restaurants dot Main Street and Emerson Avenue provides options for shopping

A combination of chain and locally owned restaurants serving various cuisines sit within developments off Main Street on the other side of Interstate 65. Oaken Barrel Brewing Company is a popular spot known for its house brews. Locals can also pick up groceries from Sam's Club or grab a bite to eat at Revery farther west in Downtown Greenwood. The rustic New American spot follows its entrees with a complimentary plate of cotton candy. Emerson Avenue intersects Main Street and runs north to Interstate 465, where shoppers can stop by Target, Walmart and several other big-name retailers.
