Lower Peters Canyon is an expansive suburban community in the northernmost corner of Irvine. The area was part of a Spanish Land Grant bought by O.C. real estate developer James Irvine in the late 19th century. Peters Canyon was the site of an extensive golf course, a reservoir for the Irvine Ranch and a U.S. Army training area known as “Camp Commander” during the Second World War.
