Green spaces and location make Oak Creek a top choice
There’s something to be said for stability and upward mobility. The Oak Creek neighborhood in Irvine offers both. Matt Tilley, a local Realtor with First Team Real Estate, says, “Irvine is the best location in Orange County because of jobs, culture and stability. A lot of people from out of state are moving here. And Oak Creek is just a good, solid neighborhood in Irvine.” Situated between three large green spaces and next to the two major Orange County Freeways, Oak Creek is a great place to start living your California Dream. Oak Creek has a lot to recommend, but inventory is slim for now, says Tilley. “Congratulations if you can get in.”
Diverse architecture sets Oak Creek apart from nearby areas
Tilly says homes average “just under a million for a two-bedroom condo.” At the high end of the price range, multi-bedroom Spanish revivals can be found for $1.85 million and below. Oak Creek is distinct in its housing, says Tilly. “Unlike most of Irvine, Oak Creek has diverse housing styles.” In addition to detached Spanish revival homes, there are postwar condos and duplexes built in the classic late 20th century Southern California style, with plain stucco walls and exterior stairwells and Venetian balconies all furnished in simple oaks or cedar and painted in autumnal hues inside grounds landscaped with boxwoods and fir trees. There are also Monterey-style developments, elegant and straightforward, with adobe walls and clay-tiled roofs. “Everything in Irvine is an HOA,” says Tilly, but fees rarely top $400 per month.
Highly rated public schools attract Oak Creek families
The highly ranked Irvine Unified School District is another draw for homebuyers looking to move to Oak Creek. The school rankings website Niche gave Oak Creek Elementary an A for overall performance. Nearby Lakeside Middle School and Woodbridge High School received A-plus grades from the site.
Great Park and Quail Hill offer nature and recreation nearby
Quail Hill is a 3-acre wilderness space on the southern edge of Oak Creek with trailheads available in the neighborhood for hiking loops between 1 and 3 miles long. From the top, you can see the mountains of the Pacific Ridge to the west. The beaches of Crystal Cove State Park are under 7 miles away. Great Park, a popular local destination, borders the neighborhood on the east. The park was established on a former Marine Corps Air Base, and in partnership with the University of Irvine Health, the city has developed 500 of its 1,300 acres. Visitors can hitch a ride on the Great Park Balloon and soar 400 feet into the sky, take classes at the agricultural classroom or just hit the farmers market. Oak Creek Golf Club to the north is a qualifying course for the US Open.
Open-air mall features national chains and local favorites
“Irvine Spectrum is a great place to go shopping or for a night out on the town,” says Tilley. The giant open-air mall has everything from Costco to the nation’s first Hello Kitty-themed café to Curry Up Now, a lauded branch of the Bay Area’s favorite Indian restaurant chain.
Easy access to Los Angeles, Long Beach and the 5 freeway
Irvine’s business district is just a couple miles away from Oak Creek. Los Angeles is 40 miles away on the 5 freeway, and Long Beach is 35 miles away on The 405. Residents traveling for work will appreciate being just 4 miles east of John Wayne International Airport.
