Northeast Jackson neighborhood rich in recreation options
Jackson’s Gilmore area consists of several smaller subdivisions packed into a singular pocket rich with recreational attractions. One of the city’s largest parks and two golf courses— including the public Jackson National Golf Club—all border this suburban community. Residents of Gilmore are also anxiously awaiting the construction of a Great Wolf Lodge, which will be located just minutes from the community. The Lodge, a chain of indoor water parks and resorts, will feature attractions like wave pools and arcades. Adding to Gilmore's plentiful recreational options are the area's major youth baseball complex and the collegiate baseball outfit. Rounding out the appeal of this community are the homes—some of which come with backyard docks and Spanish tile roofing, a rare design in Tennessee. “The good thing about these homes is they’re really, really custom. They all look good and their sizes and shapes differ considerably. They’re really clean and well kept,” says Robert Eatman, a Realtor with Town and Country Realtors. “It’s one of the better places to live because of the proximity to everything. Even the biggest Kroger is in that area.”

Contemporary Traditionals and ranch-style houses on spacious lots
Gilmore consists of homes mostly ranging in size from about 1,500 square feet to 3,500 square feet, with lots of up to an acre. Some properties even include groups of oak trees that spread across front lawns. “What they’ve built there is nice. The streets are not necessarily through-streets, so that slows down the traffic,” says Jane Betts, a Realtor with Town and Country Realtors. “In fact, there’s a portion of Country Club that actually got cut off because the residents wanted it that way, so that there would not be through traffic when the bypass kicked in years ago.” Betts is referring to Country Club Lane, which ends right before it enters the Gilmore area. The neighborhood’s architecture primarily consists of contemporary Traditionals and brick ranch-style homes but also includes a few Colonial Revivals too. Depending on size and condition, prices here mainly run between $250,000 and $400,000. However, there are a few outliers. Homes with footprints smaller than 1,500 square feet can go for under $200,000, while larger houses with lakefront property can run between $500,000 and $800,000.
