A suburban community near the water
Though locals call the community Lakeside, its namesake Doctors Lake is actually an inlet that flows from the St. Johns River to the Atlantic Ocean. Here, watersports like fishing and boating are common pastimes. "Lakeside is on the way to Fleming Island. The schools are great, and the area has a lot of small, individual communities," says Victoria Gregory, a Realtor and leader of Victoria Gregory Group with Shoe Realty Inc. The neighborhood is about 15 square miles of dense suburbs dotted by tall oaks netted with moss. Blanding Boulevard reaches across the community, leading to retail, businesses and over 10 places of worship.
You can find waterfront homes with private docks along Doctors Lake.

Among Moody Avenue Park's 15 acres are a baseball diamond and multipurpose fields. The grounds are a popular spot for walking the family dog. Although leashed pets are welcome in Clay County parks, locals also head to the private Poochie's Park with the option of a membership or visitor's fee. The community also contains Clay Maverick's Saddle Club, where National Barrel Horse Association riders can participate in competitions and other equestrian activities.

Midcentury homes and modern farmhouse to waterfront properties
In Lakeside, a midcentury brick ranch can share the same zip code as a New Traditional condo built within the last three years. Ranch homes sit on bigger tracts of land outside the subdivisions. Although most homes are single-story ranches, there are also split levels and modern farmhouses. "Many of the houses are older, and most don't have Community Development Districts," says Gregory. She also says that because most houses are not part of community development districts, they’re not likely to have access to resort-style amenities, such as nearby communities like Oakleaf.?Homebuyers can expect to pay between $200,000 to $400,000 for a home 2,000 square feet or less. More spacious properties can start around $400,000, while waterfront homes list between $600,000 and $1 million. These properties have a moderate risk of flooding during severe weather.
Ranch homes in Lakeside provide plenty of space for families in the community.

Commerce along Blanding Boulevard
Most businesses are along Blanding Boulevard, an active commercial thoroughfare that acts as the main route into Lakeside and surrounding communities. The boulevard contains Walmart and two Publix Super Markets. There are many chain dining options, but some hungry residents dine in, or order from the drive-through, at Shrimp Shack Seafood Kitchen. Inside the laid-back tavern Big Dawgs Family Sports Restaurant, there are numerous televisions and pool tables. The neighborhood bar, Crackers Lounge, is popular for late-night karaoke.

Taking to Blanding Boulevard or I-295
Blanding Boulevard leads to Middleburg to the south and Interstate 295 to the north. Downtown Jacksonville is over 20 miles away and drivers must take the Buckman Bridge along Interstate 295 to get to St. Johns County. Just 5 miles away is HCA Florida Orange Park Hospital. There is limited public transportation available, so most residents travel by car.
Commutes to and from Lakeside are made easy with the use of the interchange of Hwy 17 & 295.
Blanding & 295 gives Lakeside residents a simple way to get anywhere in Jacksonville.

A very low atmosphere here. People just do not convey any liking, but still do there job. I gues they just believe in that quote, "well, that is life."

The area doesn't have a very big crime problem. But every so often there are a few hiccups.

The housing quality is pretty good, but there are too many empty houses around due to overdeveloping the area. They can fall into disrepair and make the area look bad.
