Why Crestview appeals to families

Crestview is a family-friendly neighborhood in North Kansas City, right next to Interstate 29. After dropping the kids off at one of the local public or private schools, you can hop on that highway for a straightforward commute downtown. Aside from a pocket park and rows of midcentury homes, the neighborhood doesn’t have much else, but shopping, dining and other key parts of Kansas City are just a quick drive away.

Home prices compared to the rest of Kansas City

Minimal traditional cottages and ranch styles sit along Crestview’s winding roads, often on small lots with one-car garages. The median sale price is around $200,000, which is less than Kansas City’s median of about $280,000. It’s also a bit lower than what you’ll find in nearby neighborhoods like Antioch Acres and Briarcliff. Houses that may need a little bit of work here can start in the mid-$100,000s, while homes with updates and renovations sometimes reach the lower $300,000s. With prices on the lower end, homes here tend to sell faster than the national average. “Things are on the market for a day, and then they’re gone because it’s such a highly coveted area for families to live,” says Jen Langston Justus, a Realtor with Dream Properties Real Estate who has sold several homes in the neighborhood.
