Right off I-29, rural farmland and two cities
Situated within Platte Woods in Kansas City's Northlands, Platte Ridge provides residents with a comfortable suburban experience, just around the corner from the lakes of Weatherby and Waukomis and several shopping outlets. Within less than a half mile is Interstate 29, providing routes to North Kansas City and Kansas City's historic downtown. "Farther that way is a good mix of farmland, subdivisions and a few lakes," says Jessie Caliman, a Kansas City native and librarian at the Kansas City Central Library, 11 miles from Platte Ridge. "You also have North Kansas City, which feels like a smaller version of KC's downtown area."
Leafy front lawns of Platte Ridge
Rows of ranch-style homes, including raised ranches, are built into the hilly terrain, beautified by large, leafy trees. These 1,500 to 2,000 square feet homes offer three bedrooms and three baths, often selling between $265,000 and roughly $305,000. Houses on larger plots of land sit on the gravel Bridle Parc Lane with white picket fences and long driveways. Much of this rural farmland consists of windmills and barns on multiple-acre properties, with a price tag hovering around $500,000 and $650,000. Closer to Weatherby Lake, homes often sell between $500,000 and $674,000, with some exceeding $1 million for an estate next to the water.

While the main event of the year is the Platte County Fair, consisting of a demolition derby, a rodeo and a tractor pull, there’s a ton to do just across the river, 11 miles away, like browsing produce and crafts at the famous City Market.
