A forested suburban enclave near nature and shopping centers
Once a farming community, Kildeer is a suburb in northeastern Illinois that maintains a luxurious rural feel, with spacious yards filled with towering trees and access to natural spaces. “This is a beautiful area. The town is known for its tall trees and ponds, and everything is right around the corner,” says Cherie Smith Zurek, a real estate agent with RE/MAX Suburban who has served northeastern Illinois for 18 years. The neighborhood’s children are served by top-rated schools, and multiple retail centers offer convenient opportunities to shop, eat or attend community events. With access to traditional parks, nature preserves and a golf course, Kildeer residents enjoy a range of outdoor recreational activities as well.

Greenery frames New Traditional properties on large lots
Most Kildeer homes are arranged in subdivisions, but lush, spacious yards accompany many of the neighborhood’s homes. “Older homes were built into the woods, but the land around this new construction was cleared, so they are not surrounded by wooded areas like older homes,” Zurek says. Colonial Revivals and brick ranches built in the 1970s and 80s on 1-acre lots usually cost between $500,000 and $800,000. Lot sizes decrease with newer homes, though Kildeer’s forested ambiance remains. Homebuyers can find newly built New Traditional homes in planned communities for around $600,000, while prices for sprawling New Traditional properties with stone facades and long driveways built in the last 20 years start at $900,000 and increase to $2 million.

Kildeer is a great area and I feel very safe here. However, there is not much diversity in the area compared to others.

Kildeer is a safe area with the police department constantly patrolling. Nature is well preserved in this area. The school districts are really good. During rush hours, the traffic can sometimes be bad. Overall, Kildeer is a nice area for people of all ages to live in.
