Lakemoor Hills
Midcentury ranch-styles and sprawling custom builds
Most of the homes in Lakemoor Hills were built in the 1950s through 1970s, with updated ranch-style and split levels houses making up much of the real estate market, selling for $500,000 to $700,000. Grand two-story custom builds in styles from Tudor to colonial revival fill in the rest of Lakemoor Hills, many of which jut private docks out over the Tennessee River. Riverside properties and those with more land increase in price, ranging from $1 million to $2 million. The most densely plotted streets in Lakemoor Hills still boast generous lawns lined by coves of mature trees, while others wind through hilly forests that obscure houses set back on small acreages.Despite lacking sidewalks, the out-of-the-way nature of Lakemoor Hills means locals feel comfortable getting active in their neighborhoods. “The roads are so quiet, people walk their dogs and talk to their neighbors in the middle of the street,” says George Denninger, an artist and resident of Lakemoor Hills. “Maybe five cars pass my house in the morning, but I’ll see 20 walkers.” The seclusion and natural beauty of Lakemoor Hills make for a competitive real estate market – houses rarely go up for sale and sell quickly when they do.
Tennessee River and Lake Hills Church recreation
Riverfront properties and their attached docks give Lakemoor Hills residents ample opportunity to fish or get out on the river in kayaks and motorboats. Residents without backyard river access can drive just outside of Lakemoor Hills down to Maloney Road Park's public boat launch. On land, Lake Hills Presbyterian Church opens its outdoor recreation facilities to the public, and folks often gather there to let kids climb around the playground or play a pick-up game on the basketball and tennis courts.Lake Hills Church events and Dogwood Trails destinations
The Lake Hills Presbyterian Church both hosts and provides event space for many community events like the annual Lakemoor Hills Neighborhood Picnic and monthly meetings of the Lakemoor Hills Garden Club. The annual Knoxville Dogwood Trails tradition lays out trails for drivers, walkers and bikers to follow around Knoxville, and several residents along the Lakemoor Hills trail invite the public to enjoy the beauty of springtime in their homes and gardens.
Shopping and dining down Alcoa Highway
Hopping on Alcoa Highway just outside of Lakemoor Hills provides locals with options for daily essentials. “Knoxville, Alcoa and Maryville are all nearby for groceries, so people can choose their preferred stores,” says Denninger. Publix near the University of Tennessee’s campus is 4 miles to the north, while Kroger, Big Lots and plenty of chain restaurants are about 13 miles south in Maryville. Outside of the main shopping and dining hubs, Millie’s Kitchen Sabor Boricua sits a little over a mile away from Lakemoor Hills and is well-loved for its cozy, family-owned atmosphere and Puerto Rican cuisine.Learning at Knox County Schools

Access to downtown, UT, and McGhee Tyson Airport

Alcoa Highway provides commuters with a 6-mile trip into downtown Knoxville, while the University of Tennessee Medical Center and University of Tennessee are only 3 or 4 miles in the same direction. Heading south, residents have a straight 9-mile drive to the McGhee Tyson Airport.
