Idyllic suburb
La Habra Heights is an idyllic city that blends rural charm and suburban comfort. This city, renowned for its rolling hills and open spaces, provides an oasis of tranquility amid the bustle of Southern California. "It's kind of like living way out in the country; there's a real Yellowstone vibe," says local Realtor Ryan Domis with Keller Williams. "You can have your own land or stables and feel like you're not close to anybody — but still be just a five-minute drive from civilization."

Not your typical housing market
Housing in La Habra Heights doesn't conform to the typical suburban template of tightly packed homes and neatly plotted subdivisions. Instead, the city's residential profile is an unusual yet appealing montage of sprawling, low-density estates often shrouded in the citrus and avocado groves that dot the city's landscape. "People in La Habra Heights can look out at their backyard, and instead of a picket fence, they've got wildlife," says Domis. "Lots of people raise chickens, lots of people keep horses, there are trails everywhere. It can almost feel like a different state." Properties here reflect a range of architectural styles, from sprawling ranch homes that echo California's agrarian past to more contemporary designs that incorporate modern aesthetics into the city's semi-rural backdrop. While you can occasionally find a mid-century ranch-style home for under $1 million in the neighborhood, most homes in La Habra Heights sell for between $1.5 and $5 million and feature spacious interiors, ultra-modern appliances and amenities, and lovely views. Overall, housing prices in the area range from $880,000 to $3.7 million. The CAP Index crime score is 2 out of 10, lower than the national average of 4. There are 22 houses of worship for residents in the area. Due to the lack of public transportation, residents will need a car to live here.

Check out Powder Canyon for some local nature
Powder Canyon, a substantial draw for nature enthusiasts, lies within this city's confines. Characterized by its undulating trails that traverse native walnut woodlands and coastal sage scrub, it serves as an alluring retreat for hikers, horseback riders, and wildlife observers. The vista points along the trails offer panoramic views of the San Gabriel Valley and the Hsi Lai Temple. This unexpected and impressive sight underscores the city's unique cultural blend. Hsi Lai Temple, the largest traditional Chinese Buddhist monastery in the United States, is a must-see attraction in La Habra Heights. Beyond its spiritual role, the temple is a piece of architectural art featuring serene courtyards, artful statues and a vegetarian restaurant. The temple's annual events, such as the Lunar New Year celebration, draw visitors nationwide.
