Traditional single-story homes, along with modern contemporary two-story builds fill the neighborhood. Many properties offer views of the surrounding hills and valleys. Single-family homes typically start at around $550,000 and reach up to $840,000. Townhouses and condominiums are also available, normally reflecting the same Spanish-style aesthetic as the single-family homes. The Lake Elsinore Unified School District serves Canyon Hills. Elementary students typically start at Cottonwood Canyon Elementary School, which earns a B-plus from Niche, before moving on to B-rated Canyon Lake Middle School. The Canyon Hills Community Park spans over 18 acres and features lighted sports fields, basketball courts, tennis courts, playgrounds and a splash pad. Several hiking and biking trails weave through the natural open spaces and hillsides, with some climbs much more difficult than others. “We’re out in the rolling hills, so there’s plenty of spots to take a hike or trails to walk along,” says Williams. “And as far as amenities go, we have three pools alone – one that’s beach-themed, one that’s resort-themed and then a lap pool. And that’s just the pools.” The nearby Canyon Lake and Lake Elsinore provide boating, fishing and additional spots to splash around.Canyon Hills Marketplace dining and day-to-day needs
The Canyon Hills Marketplace, located within the community, includes retailers like Stater Bros. Markets for groceries, CVS Pharmacy and eateries like Subway, Domino's Pizza and Starbucks. Local favorites for dining include Pepe’s Mexican Cantina, an old-school option for Mexican American classics. Additional shopping and dining options are available in the city of Lake Elsinore and the nearby Outlets at Lake Elsinore, featuring a variety of brand-name stores and eateries. “One thing I really love about the community is the quarterly garage and yard sales,” says Williams. “It’s a big event, and a great way to unload some stuff while picking up new things.”Interstate 15 allows for straightforward commutes
While public transportation is limited, the neighborhood is close to Interstate 15. Downtown Riverside is approximately a 35-minute drive north, while San Diego and Los Angeles are reachable in about an hour to an hour and a half, depending on traffic. Ortega Highway becomes State Route 74, which provides a scenic route west to Orange County. “It’s a good enough location, with friendly enough prices, that some people are willing to commute as far as LA and San Diego easily,” says Kierluff.
