Lakesite is a close-knit community overlooking Chickamauga Lake
The lifestyle's in the name – residents of Lakesite have immediate access to Dallas Bay, Chickamauga Lake and several inlets for premium waterside living. Lakesite was annexed in 1994, and by 1995 the population had doubled, and a prominent commercial area was developed. It truly took off in 2000, but even as Lakesite's popularity grew, the city doubled down in efforts to keep the tight-knit community feel. "It's one of my favorite communities because it's just super unique," says Kevin Gomila, a Realtor with eXp Realty. "It's a small, independently run town. And of course, it's right on the lake, which offers many amenities."

Ranch-styles and split levels near the water
With a backdrop of mountains and close to glittering waters, Lakesite has quite the scenic terrain. Plenty of properties fall in line with typical Tennessee vernacular, such as mixed-material ranch homes and sensible split levels to handle the hills. Lakesite residentially developed in the 1990s, so most homes trend contemporary. New construction continues in the neighborhood, and the modern properties have picturesque characteristics, such as stucco exterior, domed archways and steep, cottage-style roofing. The median selling price for single-family homes in Lakesite is $350,000, while town houses dial down to $320,000. A majority of Lakesite residents own their homes, and properties sell fast, typically going under contract after only two weeks on the market. Two and three-bedroom homes without direct lake access can start at $300,000, while larger properties – especially ones close to the water – sell for $430,000 and upward.
Many Lakesite homes install longer docks to compensate for the seasonal water levels.

Heading into Soddy Daisy and Chattanooga for shopping and dining
Lakesite is highly residential, and much of the land is reserved for green space – you'll find plentiful commercial areas in its next-door neighborhood, Soddy Daisy. Not only does Highway 27 act as a direct route to downtown Chattanooga, but it's lined with businesses that you need for day-to-day essentials, such as Walmart and Food City, big-name banks and popular retailers. While Highway 27 may have the most options, you can still find a few essentials in the North Hixson Market Place, located at the southernmost portion of Lakesite. There are locally owned businesses peppered around the neighborhood and plenty of dining options on the water – Zois Harbor Lights is a favorite with residents, where you can enjoy fresh seafood on their bayside patio.

Recreation on the lake and community amenities
