A foundational Lakewood neighborhood
Lakewood's founding family established Molholm’s first subdivision, known as Two Creeks, in 1889 among ranchland and turkey farms. Today, the Two Creeks community remains deeply rooted in its members’ preferences and willingness to work together for the greater good.
"The city of Lakewood came in 20 years ago and asked neighbors surrounding the old Molholm school to put together a neighborhood plan of what they’d like to see in the future,” says Jeff Boyd, co-chair for the Two Creeks Neighborhood Organization – the first registered neighborhood organization in Lakewood. “It made the most sense for the neighborhood to be bordered by Colfax to the north, 6th Avenue to the south, Sheridan Boulevard to the East and Wadsworth Boulevard to the west. Two creeks run through the neighborhood, so that’s what we decided to call it!”

From Mountair to Green Acres
“Two Creeks is an eclectic community that’s right on the border of Denver and there’s a wide range of housing options here,” Boyd says. “It’s still more rural-looking, and there aren’t a lot of sidewalks, but a lot of the neighbors like it that way. It creates a lifestyle that’s not as cookie cutter as some other neighborhoods nearby.”
Postwar ranch-style homes and bungalows – some with room for horses and hobby farms – are joined by townhouse communities and apartment complexes, many of which sit beside the RTD Light Rail. A fixer-upper bungalow in the community known as “Mountair” will cost just over $350,000, while a colorful new townhouse with wide windows will sit between $435,000 and $570,000. Meanwhile, well-established homes on large grassy lots make up the Green Acres neighborhood west of the Lakewood Country Club. These range in price from $643,000 to $1.2 million.
Some Two Creeks residents have private farms with animals.

Walking the ArtLine
Lakewood's 40 West ArtLine – a 4-mile walking and biking trail lined with outdoor galleries – cuts right through the Two Creeks neighborhood. “Residents can start walking and the sidewalks will take them to the Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design,” Boyd says.
The Art Line is one of the main attractions in Two Creeks.

Casa Bonita, local big-box shopping and more
Just beyond West Colfax Avenue is Lamar Station Plaza, a convenient mix of local restaurants and grocery options. It’s also a stop on the 40 West Artline. The star of the show here is Casa Bonita, a sit-down Mexican eatery that’s famous throughout Denver for its elaborate spectacles. Guests might see anything from a puppet show to divers plunging off a waterfall.
When they’re not sitting down for dinner and a show, Two Creeks residents can be found at the Walmart Supercenter across the street.

Schools just beyond Two Creek bounds
While Molholm Elementary is now closed, Two Creeks children can attend Edgewater Elementary School for prekindergarten through sixth grade. The school offers a two-way dual language program for Spanish-speaking students through fifth grade and earns an overall C rating from Niche. From there, students move on to Creighton Middle School, which earns a B-minus, and Lakewood High School, which earns an A. Alternatively, students can enter a special enrollment process for the well-loved Jefferson County Open School for kindergarten through 12th grade.

Community farms and country clubs
Lakewood Country Club makes up a wide swath of Two Creeks’ green space. Private membership includes access to a championship golf course and social club. The old Molholm Elementary School's playground provides a convenient creative space for local kids. “We were also instrumental to getting a neighborhood park built at Newland Square,” adds Boyd.
Residents can exercise their green thumbs at Mountair Park Community Farm. This small vegetable farm donates half its harvest to food access efforts yearly. Many residents are just a few blocks from Sloan’s Lake, a Denverite essential.

Light Rail vs. Car vs. Bike
Two Creeks is a straight shot from many local attractions. Those traveling by car can reach downtown Denver via West Colfax Avenue in 4.5 miles; CommonSpirit St. Anthony Hospital sits 6 miles away on the 6th Avenue Freeway.
Three RTD Light Rail stops along West 13th Avenue offer convenient public transportation. They’re a popular option for commuters living in apartments along this stretch. Bike trails also meander alongside the Light Rail. Meanwhile, those taking a flight can reach Denver International Airport in 29 miles.

Aiding the unhoused in Two Creeks
“Mountair has a lot of programs that impact the most vulnerable members of the homeless community and those camping out in Mountair Park,” Boyd shares. “We try to work with them as much as we can to find a balance between people who are unhoused and those who are in the community.”

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
