Established neighborhood within walking distance to schools
Ghost Town may have a haunting name, but the neighborhood is alive and well. “There is nothing haunted in that area,” says Joe Baeza, public information officer and investigator with the City of Laredo. “It’s just one of the older nicknames.” It’s a mostly residential neighborhood that's home to “a lot of working, middle-class, blue-collar people,” says ” says Baeza. Schools are either located in the neighborhood or within walking distance, including the recently renovated Nixon High School. The location is convenient, with the Laredo Medical Center and Laredo International Airport sitting just across the Lloyd Bentsen Highway.
