Village Green
Ranch-style houses and mobile homes
On the eastern side of the neighborhood are small apartment complexes and subdivisions with ranch-style homes that typically sell for between $200,000 and $400,000. These modest homes, most of which were built in the second half of the 20th century, have sparse landscaping, with the occasional old-growth oak or palm tree providing shade. East Bay Oaks is a 55+ retirement mobile home community on the western side of the neighborhood. The community’s manufactured homes typically feature attached carports and about 1,000 feet of living space on small lots. These properties sell for between $25,000 and $100,000, with a monthly land lease of about $800 to $900. “Some of these mobile home parks are popular because there’s less and less of them,” says Barbara Brockwell, Realtor at The Brockwell Group in Largo. She notes that developers now favor building condos and multi-family homes over new mobile home parks. “I have clients that really love mobile home living. They have a little bit of land, whether it’s theirs or not, and space around their home.”A few minutes from miles of beaches and Largo Central Park
Neighborhood residents can cross the Belleair Bridge, about 5 miles west, to access miles of white sand beaches along the Gulf of Mexico. “Gulf Boulevard is the main drag that runs up and down all the beach communities,” Brockwell says. Communities such as Indian Rocks Beach and Clearwater Beach have public parking, while parking at Belleair Beach is generally for residents only. Although the neighborhood is a quick drive to the ocean, Village Green is a few miles inland, and most of the properties in the neighborhood are not in a flood zone. Village Green is also only about 2 miles from Largo Central Park, which has an accessible playground, trails around an expansive lawn and the Central Park Performing Arts Center.Restaurants and groceries are just in and around the neighborhood
There are many conveniences in and around Village Green. East Bay Plaza, on the northeastern corner of the neighborhood, has a Publix, The UPS Store, a couple banks and some chain restaurants. East Bay Drive, the neighborhood’s northern border, has dozens more businesses. These range from chains like Starbucks and Panda Express to local coffee shops like Addicted to The Bean and hole-in-the-wall spots like Pinellas Pizzeria.Magnet programs at Largo High School
Students living in Village Green are zoned to attend Pinellas County Schools. Southern Oak Elementary School earns a B-plus grade from Niche, while Largo Middle School earns a B-minus. Students graduate from A-minus rated Largo High School, which earns an A grade from Niche in the college preparatory category. The school offers the ExCEL magnet program, where students can participate in career shadowing programs, hands-on projects and off-campus learning.Getting around town by bus or car
The area is largely car-dependent, but the Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority services routes along E Bay Drive and Ulmerton Road around the region. Downtown Clearwater is 6 miles northwest, and downtown Tampa is about 22 miles east. Drivers can cross Old Tampa Bay into Tampa in about 30 minutes via Interstate 275 or State Road 60. HCA Florida Largo Hospital and Morton Plant Hospital are both within 6 miles of the neighborhood. “We have two major hospitals in close proximity. [HCA Florida Largo Hospital] has a big heart center, and the other is also very highly regarded,” Brockwell says. Additionally, St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport is about 4 miles east of Village Green.
