Laureldale is a small borough of approximately 4,277 people formed from a section of Muhlenberg Township in 1930. The Laureldale Playground, a ½-mile drive via local roads, features a pavilion, playground equipment and a ball field. The Laureldale area is known for its proximity to retail, from big box stores to mom-and-pop shops. Target and Giant are less than a 2-mile drive via back roads. The main thoroughfares in the Borough include Kutztown Road and Elizabeth Avenue, which intersect near the center of town. U.S. Route 222 Business is the nearest numbered highway. Though there are several nearby Berks Area Reading Transportation Authority (BARTA) bus stops, most residents rely on their cars. Residents drive approximately 7 miles to get to Reading Regional-Carl A. Spaatz Field Airport via Pennsylvania Route 12.
