Relaxed living just south of the Pocono Mountains

Sitting just south of the Pocono Mountains and neighboring a popular ski resort, the Lehigh Township offers a relaxed lifestyle amid dense forests and vast, hilly farmland. Containing the borough of Walnutport and the village of Cherryville, the township contains ample dining and shopping options while still providing the character of a smaller town. "It's kind of a rural area of Lehigh Valley," says local Realtor Cass Chies of Diamond 1st Real Estate LLC, who has nearly 20 years of experience in real estate. "If you don't want to be in the city or in the suburbs, you're in the rural area, and there you can find some really nice properties. There are some newer developments that are going in there. There's a lot of growth going on in Lehigh Township right now."

A wide variety of home styles from traditional split-levels to large f

Homes in Lehigh Township come in various shapes and sizes. Walnutport's gridded streets primarily contain older American Foursquares and ranch-style homes while properties surrounded by the township's farmland feature farmhouses and split-level frameworks with colonial accents on huge lots. A smaller home with three bedrooms can price between $100,000 and $300,000 while larger 2,500-square-foot properties often range from $300,000 to north of $600,000. According to Chies, homes in Lehigh Township often sell within 30 days of their initial listing. "You can have a really nice Victorian on three or four acres, has a nice farm with it, and then right next door it's just a regular house," Chies says. "It's a whole combination of homes."
