A small Helena community with long winters and short summers
Just outside of Helena, the small mountain community of Lincoln offers much in the way of outdoor activities. "Lincoln makes money from tourism in the summer for camping and in the winter for snowmobiling. The Blackfoot River also goes through here, and it's well known for its fishing," says resident Nina Kling, who works as a substitute librarian at the Lincoln branch of the Lewis & Clark County Library. With a string of restaurants and shops clustered along W Main Street, the neighborhood also maintains a small commercial district with local shops and restaurants. Kling adds, "We get long winters, and the temperatures can get as low as minus 20 at night. Some days it doesn’t get above zero. Summers are very short. June can be kind of rainy, but it brings beautiful green wildflowers, and the aspens are beautiful. September is beautiful, but the nights start getting cold, and we usually get our first snow in October."

Hooper Park has softball fields, a horseshoe pit and a dining pavilion, while Nature’s Playground offers a disc golf course. Lincoln Community River Park offers a place for swimming and fishing in the Blackfoot River. Blackfoot Pathways: Sculpture in the Wild pays homage to the rich heritage of the Blackfoot Valley. Wandering through this 26-acre sculpture park, viewers can take in its large-scale installations created by international artists and learn how they each pay tribute to the local environment.
