Fourth Lake Forest Preserve surrounds Fourth Lake with a grove of pines and spruces, creating a beautiful overlook that hikers can access along the Millennium Trail. There are several ponds and wetland areas the farther you travel into the preserve. Sand Lake and Miltmore Lake are both open to residents for recreational boating, kayaking, and paddleboarding. Miltmore Lake Park even lets you go swimming in the water at a beach area that also has a playground. “You can go fishing in the summer, and ice fishing in the winter,” Schneider continues.
After a long day on the water, grab a bite to eat at Fourth Lake Resort Bar & Grille, a restaurant right by the beach that offers outdoor seating with stunning views of the water. Their bacon-topped pierogis are sure to hit the spot. For anything else you might need, Rollins Crossing is south of the neighborhood and has a Tony’s Fresh Market for groceries, plus plenty of retail stores and chain restaurants.
