Located in the heart of Utah County, Lindon is a city that makes you feel like you’re in the country. “It’s smaller than Pleasant Grove and Orem,” says Emerie Brooks, Listening Manager at Summit Realty. It’s quaint; it’s not busy. A lot of people know each other and like running into one another around town.” With a population of nearly 12,000, residents in Lindon enjoy the convenience that comes with being sandwiched in between Pleasant Grove and Orem, but they aren’t envious; neighbors appreciate minimal traffic and a quiet lifestyle.

You’ll see a lot of homes accompanied by acreage and horses; these are two key details that help Lindon maintain its rural vibe. Keep in mind, houses are pricier here; new constructions range from $650,000 to $800,000 and include three bedrooms and three bathrooms. Well maintained homes have a slightly wider range, starting in the mid $500,000s. These houses are often rambler-style and are the ones paired with larger lots and horse property. A budget starting in at $900,000 and exceeding $1 million will put you closer at the foothills of Mt. Timpanogos. Surrounded by mature trees, you’ll have the privacy you want inside and outside. A minimum of five bedrooms is common at this price point and many homes resemble English cottages. Neighbors at the foothills are most impacted by snowstorms; if you live here, you’re urged to buy a snowplow blade for your four-wheeler.

Lindon Elementary and Oak Canyon Junior High are located within city limits, but High school students will attend Pleasant Grove High or Timpanogos High in Orem. Karl Maeser Preparatory Academy, Timpanogos Academy and the Montessori Learning Center provide parents with additional schools to consider.

Small businesses are scattered throughout Lindon, but Wal-Mart Super Center is your only option tackle errands and grocery shopping. However, multiple local alternatives are along State Street; Smith’s is less than one mile north in Pleasant Grove. If you head south into Orem, you’ll find Macey’s Grocery and University Place shopping mall. Local restaurants save a seat for you at the dinner table – an uncommon find in Utah County. Los Hermanos Mexican Restaurant has served classics like carne asada street market tacos for more than 30 years. Even though you’re eating Mexican food, you’ll still get a feel for Lindon; Los Hermanos is located inside a historic farmhouse. If you’re in the mood for mouth-watering barbeque, take your tastebuds to Smoking Apple BBQ Co. Nearly 40 years ago, owner Eric started serving meat from his small barrel smoker at neighborhood and church parties. Today, you can dine-in on North State Street. Try the “Pig and Stuff” smoked BBQ pork sandwiches; Eric says cheddar cheese, crunchy fried onions and hot sauce are what makes “saucy smiling faces.”

Lindon City Park is where you’ll find families on a sunny weekend. Playgrounds for big kids and small children, baseball diamonds, and long grassy fields invite you to arrive after breakfast and stay until dinner. Pavilions with picnic tables also provide shade during hot summer months. If you need to beat the heat, cool off at the Lindon Aquatics Center. You won’t just find a pool when you show up here; a lazy river, speed slide, hot tub, kiddie pools, and FlowRider surfing simulator will keep the whole family entertained. Adults ages 18 and older who live with disabilities can join in the city’s Adaptive Program. It runs in six-week stints and invites members to participate in various activities like sports and cooking.

Mount Timpanogos is your reminder to get out of your neighborhood and into the mountains. The Dry Canyon Trailhead is accessible from Lindon. The five-and-a-half-mile trail is perfect for anyone who wants to hike, camp or backpack; picturesque views of the Utah Valley will keep you company the whole time. When winter hits, grab your skis and set out for Sundance Ski Resort. The Murdock Trail is located back in the city. No vehicles are allowed on this paved multi-use trail, creating a safe space for walkers, runners and mountain bikers to log some miles. The Murdock trail runs a total of 17 miles; neighbors in Lindon can follow it south to Provo or head north and wind up in Lehi.

Every single city resident has their calendars marked for Lindon Days. A junior rodeo, cardboard boat regatta, and huck fin fishing are just some of the uniquely curated events neighbors look forward to all year; but the Mayor’s Candy Scramble takes the cake. Toddlers, young children, teenagers and even adults are all divided into age groups, with the mission to dig through massive piles of sawdust in search of king-sized candy bars and dollar bills. Live music and fireworks signal the end of yet another successful set of Lindon Days.

Neighbors in Lindon enjoy the rural feeling their city effortlessly exudes. In fact, it reminds residents of the way most of Utah used to be: rich in land, farm animals present, and one main road connecting you to surrounding areas. People are committed to maintaining this lifestyle.

“I have a lot of friends in Lindon that grew up together, and they all still stick together,” says Brooks.
