A tight community
About 12 miles north of Cincinnati, Lockland is a village that has not lost its sense of community through the years. “We were a factory town, but many of those closed in the 1990s and just now is more infrastructure and money being put in,” says Joe McGee, a lifelong resident of Lockland and Administrative Assistant to the Mayor. “It’s the type of community where people come out to the Christmas and Memorial Day parades, and you can call town hall and get a real human on the phone.” While Lockland was once an industrial village, the smokestacks have since cleared. What Lockland offers today is suburban living with access to spacious parks and a downtown area with restaurants that have been staples in the community for years.
Ranch-style bungalows
Single-family homes in Lockland have a median price point of just under $180,000, with many being historic homes built around the turn of the century. Housing styles vary greatly as there are old ranch-style bungalows sitting on the same street as large farmhouse builds with wide porches. In some areas, like off South Wayne Avenue, homes are located right off busy streets. However, most of the houses are on very narrow, secluded roads. Many homes have private parking, and the majority have yards. There are plentiful sidewalks that are shaded by mature trees for walking around the neighborhood.
Lockland Local School District
Kids head to the Lockland Local School District, beginning at Lockland Elementary, which has a C rating on Niche. The next stop is Lockland Middle School, which holds a C-minus rating and is noted for being one of the most diverse schools in Ohio. Lockland High School has a C-plus rating on Niche and is ranked as one of the best college prep schools in Cincinnati.
Gardner Park has the fun
There are plenty of outdoor spots for recreation in Lockland. Gardner Park is home to many local youth sporting events with three baseball diamonds and multi-purpose fields. The park also has a one-mile walking path, a basketball court and a nine-hole frisbee golf course. “The park is home to some of our best events, like our end-of-summer yearly festival,” says McGee. “We have food trucks and carnival games, and it’s a really great time.” Jonte Park is a local spot with community grills and picnic tables where residents can have an afternoon lunch under the sun. Children can flock to Whitaker Playground, which has plenty of climbing equipment and green space for other activities.

For Thai favorites in a casual and fun atmosphere, Thai Lom Cuisine is an option. No matter if it’s to grab a bite with friends or catch the game on TV, Strongs Brick Oven Pizzeria is a spot locals flock to. Strongs serves up personal pan pizzas fresh out of the oven and has a full bar and plenty of mounted televisions. For a nightcap, Wolfman’s Tavern has drink specials and classic bar games.
For groceries, residents can visit Don Vonderhaar’s Market, right in Lockland. The market has daily necessities, as well as a large beer and wine selection and a full deli. National chains are nearby, as there is an Aldi located north on Route 42 and a Kroger off Highway 4. GreatSchools:
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

There's a couple different pizza places as well as the McDonald's. Whitecastle and Rally's are also close by. Skyline, Goldstar, Wendy's, Taco Bell, KFC and Frisch's are all around in the same vicinity of the area as well.

We have several recycling bins around town and everyone is pretty aware of them and does their part to clean the earth. We also have an aluminum company who will pay for old cans.

No town is perfect when it comes to crimes but the area in which I lived was one of the safest around. The police are always patrolling the streets so there's no real crime that happens.
