Alamitos Ridge offers gated living close to Signal Hill trails
Bordered by the city of Signal Hill, Alamitos Ridge is one of Long Beach's newer neighborhoods, with a gated community that was built in the early 2010s. It's got a modern, luxury feel thanks to energy-efficient homes and an active homeowners association. But the real draw might be what's just outside the gates. You're right next to miles of trails with some of the best views in the city, and there's easy access to everyday shopping and dining in two directions. While prices are relatively high for northern Long Beach, you get all the suburban comfort and security of living in one of the city’s few gated neighborhoods.
Energy-conscious home design and HOA amenities
Alamitos Ridge is a small neighborhood built around the gated community of Aubry at Alamitos Ridge. Most single-family homes here were built in 2011 and 2012 and offer Spanish-inspired architecture, hardwood floors, open-concept layouts and direct-access two-car garages. You'll also find energy-conscious features like solar panel systems and tankless water heaters, which help lower utility costs. Yards aren't huge, but there's enough room for a back patio. Plus, the local HOA maintains a park and playground within the community’s gates. The median sale price is around $1.1 million, and the monthly HOA fees are about $200. It’s significantly more expensive than the nearby Signal Hill or Traffic Circle neighborhoods, but on par with Artcraft Manor.
Long Beach high schools offer career-focused pathways
Alamitos Ridge is part of the Long Beach Unified School District, and the neighborhood is zoned for Woodrow Wilson High School. Wilson has an A rating from Niche and offers career-oriented academic pathways in technology, public service, arts and medicine. The district also offers school choice, so families can apply to other public schools, including Browning Early College High School, which is right in the neighborhood. Browning partners with Long Beach City College to offer college credits through career pathways of hospitality, tourism and recreation.

Shopping in Traffic Circle and Signal Hill

Traffic Circle: Home to grocery stores like Ralphs, Vons and Sprouts Farmers Market, along with plenty of chain restaurants
Signal Hill: Home to big-box staples like Costco and Home Depot, plus local gems like Ten Mile Brewing and Golden Eagle Restaurant
Easy commutes to downtown Long Beach and the airport
Pacific Coast Highway runs just south of the neighborhood, and Long Beach Transit operates bus routes on bordering streets like Redondo Avenue. Downtown LA is about 25 miles away, which is roughly 30 to 80 minutes depending on traffic. Downtown Long Beach is less than 5 miles out, and Long Beach Airport is about 3 miles north. You're not in the direct flight path, so you won't deal with as much airport noise as some other northern Long Beach neighborhoods.
Alamitos Ridge is less than a mile from the Pacific Coast Highway.
Long Beach Transit connects to Los Angeles and Orange County.
