Bunker Hill offers a quiet home base about 12 miles west of Longview. This rural neighborhood borders the Columbia River and northwest Oregon. Homes are spaced several hundred feet apart; the closest neighbors are evergreen trees. On the way into town, residents can pick up eggs and firewood from local hobby farms. “It’s a beautiful drive out there along the Columbia,” says Susan Wood, Broker at John L. The best spot for river access is 11 miles outside of the neighborhood at Willow Grove. This recreational area includes a park along the Columbia River, a boat launch, bike path and plenty of parking. Though it has all the amenities for a full day by the river, Willow Grove is generally a place where folks can find peaceful solitude. Large logs and driftwood provide natural seating to watch the sunset. Willow Grove allows kayaking in the calm waters and walking dogs along the sandy beach.
