Living in the heart of Longview
New West Side is one of Longview's most walkable neighborhoods. This gridded lakefront area sits within walking distance of Lake Sacajawea Park, the largest and most popular park in Longview. Several churches, an elementary school and the region’s main hospital are in and around the area, which has natural beauty on top of its practical conveniences. “You can’t beat our area when it comes to the summer and spring. And all the trees turn magical colors in the fall,” says Susan Wood, broker at John L. Scott Real Estate with over nine years of experience in Longview. Between the trees, residents may spot a squirrel bridge, which hangs from the treetops and provides a safe path for the tree-dwelling animals. Longview is known for having squirrel bridges throughout the city – each designed by different architects dating back to 1963.

Convenient shopping and dining along 15th Avenue
At Chinese Garden, locals can enjoy generous portion sizes while sitting in large, semi-circular booths. Chinese lanterns hang from the ceiling over the plush booths and scarlet carpet. Just up the street, Shamrock Bar & Grill is an unassuming locally-owned neighborhood spot that’s been around for decades. Stores and businesses line 15th Avenue at the eastern edge of the neighborhood. Here, residents can swing by Dutch Bros Coffee, drop off donations at Goodwill or go to the local dry cleaners. Most people drive along this commercial road, but 15th Avenue has sidewalks for those who prefer to make the short trek on foot. Shoppers can head to Safeway to pick up groceries and prescriptions. A few blocks away, the Triangle Center contains a variety of shops and restaurants, from Petco to Applebee’s.
