Midcentury brick homes in Cloverleaf
With mature trees and miles of green lawns spanning the neighborhood, Cloverleaf is a bucolic suburb for many Louisville residents. Homes here are situated on quarter- to full-acre lots which allows plenty of room for greenery, privacy and backyard hobbies like gardening. Most houses in the neighborhood tend to be a mix of popular suburban styles from the 1950s and '60s, ranging from split-levels and Classical Revivals to ramblers and cottages. One unique aspect of the Cloverleaf neighborhood is that many homes here were built with brick. "Since they're brick, homes here tend to last longer and do better as investments than traditional frame houses," says May. The average sales price here is around $220,000 dollars, and homes in this neighborhood cost almost $70,000 less than the average for the greater Louisville area. Prices in Cloverleaf do vary depending on the size and condition of the property, however a 1000-square-foot cottage might sell for as low as $150,000 dollars, while a larger Classical Revival style complete with a built-in garage can go for as high as $300,000 dollars.

Jefferson County public schools close to home
Young students go to school here in the neighborhood at Gutermuth Elementary, which receives a C rating from Niche. While older students move on to Frederick Law Olmsted Academy North and South, which are all-boys and all-girls schools that both receive a rating of C-minus. For secondary education, students attend Iroquois High, which earns a C grade according to Niche. Students at Iroquois High have the option to participate in the Academies of Louisville program, which features various thematic pathways. For example, students who enjoy working with their hands, whether in commercial carpentry, masonry or other lines of work, can apply to the Build Academy; while the Create Academy is better suited forthose interested in developing their skills in the fields of cinematography, video production or mechanical engineering. The Human Services Academy caters to those interested in helping others, such as careers in health, medicine and early childhood education.

Heading outdoors in Iroquois and Wyandotte parks
Another perk of living in Cloverleaf is that the neighborhood is just a few minutes away from greenspaces like Iroquois Park. Spanning 725-acres, this park has everything. There are wooded trails where equestrians can ride their horses, a bow and arrow range for target practice and a disc golf course for friendly match-ups. For group sports, the park has basketball and tennis courts, as well as a full 18-hole golf course that spans a hilly layout. For scenic views, residents can head up to the Iroquois Park Overlook, where they can take in panoramic views of downtown Louisville and the surrounding areas. The Iroquois Amphitheater is the official amphitheater for the Commonwealth of Kentucky and seats 2,400 people. Residents can find info for their schedule online, which ranges from movie nights and local theater performances to concerts and even festivals. Another great outdoor option here is Wyandotte Park, which is less than 10 minutes away from Cloverleaf. Little ones can spend time exploring the park’s playground, while adults can enjoy some tennis, jog on the walking trails, or play a game of pickup basketball on one of Wyandotte's newly renovated courts.

Roll up to dine on Dixie Highway
With Dixie Highway forming Cloverleaf's western border, residents are also just a short drive from a large selection of restaurants, retail and shopping options. Folks will find popular chain restaurants here like Applebee’s and Texas Roadhouse, or they can shop for groceries at the local Aldi or Kroger just over a mile down the road. Locally, Bearno’s Pizza is a family-friendly favorite with plentiful options for toppings, while El Nopal Mexican Cuisine is known for its fun drinks and hearty portions of traditional Mexican food. Another local haunt is Bud’s Tavern, which serves cold beers and their house special: handmade fish fingers, with seasoned fries. The bar often hosts community gatherings, ranging from work outings to paint parties and even fundraisers in support of local causes. For more options, "The Highlands is also just a hop skip and jump away," says Brenda Overstreet-Kopatz, a local Realtor with Semonin Realtors. About 10 miles from Cloverleaf, this 3-mile stretch of Bardstown Road is known for its boutique shopping and active nightlife. Here, residents will find bars, clothing stores and restaurants, and the Baxter Avenue Movie Theatre.

Fun community events around Louisville
When it comes to finding something fun to do around town, the options are almost endless. Churchill Downs is a little over 3 miles away and is the center of the horse-racing world for a few days each spring when the Kentucky Derby comes to town. For lecture series, sports and other educational events, the University of Louisville is also just 5 miles from Cloverleaf. Other popular destinations include Belvedere Riverfront Plaza, an outdoor venue for live shows and community gatherings, as well as The Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts, which is home to the city's opera, ballet and orchestra. "There are just so many things to do," says Overstreet-Kopatz. "If you don't find anything to do, you're just not looking for it."

Getting around the greater Louisville area
With Dixie Highway and Henry Watterson Expressway (Interstate-264) both bordering the neighborhood, Cloverleaf residents "are pretty much 20 minutes from everything," says Overstreet-Kopatz. Restaurants and entertainment options can be found along Dixie Highway, while the Expressway takes residents throughout the greater Louisville area. Commuters are also just 7 miles, or about 20 minutes, from downtown Louisville, with Interstate 65 usually being the fastest option. For those in need of medical care, Mary & Elizabeth Hospital is also less than a mile east of the neighborhood. When traveling out of state, the Louisville International Airport, is located about 5 miles, or about a 10-minute drive, east of Cloverleaf along the Watterson Expressway.Crime
