Louisville is one of those cities that you don't really know how big it is until you hear about where things are happening. Majority of the crime you hear about in the city comes out of the West end - downtown. Unfortunately, this is very close to where a lot of students attend college. The University of Louisville is toward that way, and the community college, Jefferson Community & Technical College is based right in the middle of it. I attend JCTC currently and have resorted to online classes as part of me has no desire to be down in the middle of that - but I wouldn't necessarily say I "fear" for my life due to the amount of people in that area, all the time. Louisville is a pretty safe city for the most part. I wouldn't want to be down there after dark or alone. The police and security officers do their absolute best to patrol and take care of the city. I don't feel unsafe at home or anywhere else in the city, except deep downtown.
