Saint Regis Park

Well-kept homes in St. Regis Park
Homes in St. Regis Park range from low-profiled ranch-style and cottage homes from the 1950s and '60s to large, traditional properties built in the '90s. Most lots have large, spacious lawns, with up to a quarter-acre being common and several properties bordering the rolling greens of Oxmoor Country Club. Thanks to the St. Regis Park Tree Board, tall oaks and maples provide a leafy backdrop for walkers and bike riders venturing through the neighborhood. Roberts notes that older homes here are known for their large, wide-profiled windows that let natural light into the living room and kitchen areas, a feature that was uncommon in the '50s. Many properties also feature solid brick construction and large floorplans that run up to 4,000 square feet. "I haven't met anyone living there who doesn't have a full basement," Roberts says. Smaller properties tend to sell from $300,000 to $450,000, while large, contemporary builds sell from $500,000 to $750,000. St. Regis Park has a 3 out of 10 CAP Index Crime Score, which is lower than the national average of 4.Nearby schools in St. Regis Park

Located just across the Watterson Expressway from St. Matthews, residents can find many of Louisville's best shopping opportunities within a five minute's drive. The Oxmoor Center and Mall St. Matthews are the two largest malls in the area with large retailers like Dillard's, Apple and Best Buy. Specialty grocers like Rainbow Blossom and the only Trader Joe's in Louisville are also nearby, along with a newly-opened Topgolf. "Residents in Hurstbourne tried filing a lawsuit because they didn't want the Topgolf to open, but a lot of the things they were concerned about ended up not happening. It's been a great addition to all the other shopping and draws people from all over," Roberts says. St. Matthews itself is a shopping and dining district filled with locally-owned shops and restaurants like Sunergos Coffee and Nam Nam Café. Graeter's Ice Cream is a local dessert spot that has been open since 1870 and specializes in creative flavors like brown butter bourbon pecan and chocolate raspberry chip. Another local business, Plehn's Bakery, bakes fresh cakes and pastries daily in addition to selling their dinner rolls at local grocers.Olmsted Parks and other places to pause
Despite being close to so many amenities, St. Regis Park also offers close proximity to local greenspaces. The Oxmoor Country Club makes up the eastern portion of the neighborhood, with a full 18-hole golf course just beyond many residents' backyards. This private club also offers a driving range, tennis courts and a swimming pool. Within walking distance, residents can also find 27 acres of open grassy fields, a playground and tennis courts at Des Pres Park. A mile away on Browns Lane, Browns Park has a newly remodeled playground and a scenic creek where visitors can sit on a bench or feed the ducks and geese. Another local outlet is Upper Highlands Swim Club, a youth swim team located right in the neighborhood that competes throughout the summer. For more greenery, residents can also visit nearby Olmsted parks like Seneca and Cherokee Park, which boast a combined 940 acres of sports facilities, walking trails and a public golf course. "The parks are so nice, a lot of people like to just drive through them to avoid sitting in rush hour traffic. The nice scenery makes it worth the few extra minutes," Roberts says.Always something to do in Louisville
Located 11 miles from Downtown Louisville, residents can always find something to do in Kentucky's largest city. In March, the city celebrates the wearing of the green with several St. Patrick’s Day festivities that culminate in a grand parade. And, of course, the first Saturday in May brings the Kentucky Derby, the first jewel of horseracing’s Triple Crown. In December, the nearby city of St. Matthews holds its annual holiday event, which features hundreds of thousands of colored lights, music, train rides and a visit from Santa himself.Getting around the St. Regis Park area
With a convenient location right at the intersection of Interstate 64 and the Watterson Expressway, St. Regis Park is within a few minutes from many of Louisville's most popular destinations. Commuters can make the 11-mile commute in about 20 minutes on the Watterson Expressway, while pedestrians can find public bus routes lining Taylorsville Road. "The bus system isn't as good as it could be, so most people in this area don't really depend on it," says Robert Butler, who lives nearby and is a Realtor at Semonin Realtors. "St. Regis Park also gets pretty congested with traffic, but only around rush hour, Butler says. Those looking for medical assistance can find it less than a mile away at Norton Women’s and Children’s Hospital, or visit Baptist Health Hospital about 2 miles away. For flights across the country, the Louisville International Airport is also about 9 miles west along the Watterson Expressway.
