West Bank community upriver from New Orleans
Luling is set along the West Bank of the Mississippi River, about 20 miles upriver from New Orleans. Many of the 14,000 residents choose Luling for its highly rated school district and quieter atmosphere compared to suburbs closer to the Big Easy, while still being a short drive to the city. “Its a great community with great schools," says Mikey Bowler, a Realtor and owner of Mikey Bowler Realty. "There's a lot of new inventory in some of the nicer subdivisions."

Highly rated St. Charles Parish Public Schools
St. Charles Parish Public Schools receive an overall A grade from Niche, which ranks the district first in the New Orleans area. The district is also ranked second for athletes in Louisiana. “If I’ve got somebody who’s definitely sending their kids to public school, then that’s the parish I’m sending them to first,” Bowler says. In addition to its 15 schools, the system also operates the Lafon Performing Arts Center, which gives students of all ages hands-on experience with music and theater productions.
