Lynnwood is a bustling hub among the north Seattle suburbs

Set in the north Seattle suburbs, the city of Lynnwood values convenience and comfort equally. To begin with, this commercial stronghold is home to both the largest shopping mall in Snohomish County and a newly installed Light Rail connection to downtown Seattle. “It’s a very practical place to live,” says Eva Croasdale, a Realtor with Windermere Real Estate who lives in nearby Kenmore. “My mom actually lives in Lynnwood, and she loves it because she has everything she needs right there.” The city is also rich in outdoor recreation and offers convenient access to not one but two major freeways. Suffice it to say that Lynnwood covers all the bases for a comfortable lifestyle.

Bungalows and split-levels on quarter-acre lots

Outside the busy commercial areas, several suburban subdivisions lead to a laid-back environment. These parts of Lynnwood feature mixes of single-family homes built between the mid-twentieth century and today. Bungalows and ranch-style houses, as well as contemporary Craftsman and split-levels, are found in equal measure. Smaller options exist in the form of condos and townhomes. Generally, single-family homes are fixed on quarter-acre lots, and they tend to sell for anywhere between $600,000 and 800,000. A larger property can cost anywhere from $900,000 to $1.2 million. It takes about 21 days for a home to sell, and average home values have largely been trending upward since 2020.

Using Interstates 5 and 405 and Light Rail Service

With easy access to Interstate 5, commutes to Seattle are a 17-mile drive southbound. The city also has a new Light Rail extension, further is also slated to complete construction on Sound Transit’s light rail extension by 2024, which will make commuting to Seattle even easier. “It’s a great place for future investment as properties near the Light Rail tend to go up in value,” Croasdale says.
