The Flint Hills and living history surround suburban Northview
The earliest residents of Northview made their homes at the confluence of the Big Blue River and the Kansas River, from 1780 to 1830. The Kansa people named their home Blue Earth Village and hunted, fished and farmed before being relocated to Oklahoma in the mid-1800s.
Today, Northview is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Manhattan and sits next to Kansas State University, one of the leading agricultural colleges in the nation. While Northview has about 2,100 homes and more than 8,000 residents, its size and views of the surrounding Flint Hills offer a feeling of spaciousness echoed by acres of undeveloped land along the north and east sides. Northview features two public schools, several churches, numerous historic sites and abundant outdoor attractions, including parks and miles of walking trails through preserved prairie land.
