A calm residential enclave close to the heart of Mankato
Located about two and a half miles east of Old Town Mankato is the community of Peacepipe Park, a quiet neighborhood centered around the namesake park. “You are centrally located to everything in town,” says Chris Cousins, a Mankato native and Realtor with Viking Real Estate. “It’s an established neighborhood that puts you equidistant to any shopping you might need, any schools, parks, the hospital.” Peacepipe Park residents enjoy access to everything Mankato has to offer while tucked in a calm residential enclave away from the downtown hubbub.
Ranch-style homes and split levels
To the neighborhood's east, homes cluster in cul-de-sacs around the park, whereas homes to the west are laid out in a grid. The streets are broad, with plenty of room for parking, but most residents have attached garages and driveways. Ranch-style homes dominate the landscape. “Most of the homes were built in the late 70s, and early 80’s, so it’s a lot of ranches. There are some split levels, but you're not going to see many two-stories,” says Cousins. Prices range from $180,000 to $380,000 on average.
Residents of Peacepipe Park take pride in decorating their homes and yard.

Peacepipe Park
Peacepipe Park is on a hilltop within the neighborhood. “It’s one of those few parks in town that’s not too out of the way. There's always someone playing; there's always kids having fun over there.” This small green space has playground equipment at the center, while bordering oaks and elms offer shade around the perimeter. The park also features a pavilion and barbeque pit. Bordering the neighborhood to the east is Erlandson Park, with sprawling athletics fields, a playground and picnic spots. This community park also has an outdoor ice-skating rink, available when weather permits, along with a decorative garden.
A host of international dining options
Though the neighborhood itself is largely residential, shopping and dining can be found to the north of the community along Madison Avenue. El Mazatlan Mexican Restaurant serves traditional Mexican food and margarita pitchers while offering patio dining during the summer. “Mazatlan is awesome- it's super authentic,” Cousins said. “If you’re a local and you're going to have Mexican food, that’s where you eat.” Right next door is Olde Brick House, an Irish restaurant with a rustic but classic interior featuring leather seats and stained-glass detailing. For groceries, there's a Walmart Supercenter located on Madison Avenue.
Peacepipe Park residents enjoy the authentic Irish cuisine found at The Olde Brick House.
At Mazatlan Peacepipe Park residents can choose from a variety of authentic dishes.
