Lion’s Park is a peaceful neighborhood reprieve with a playground, picnic tables and a paved walking path leading to MSU and threading through several surrounding neighborhoods. Anglers can cast a line for sunfish and crappie in Lions Lake. Located on Tanager Road, Wings Over White Oaks Park is a large green space with a handicap-accessible playground offering ramps and an adapted swing. Nearby is Goldfinch Pond, surrounded by mature trees. Just north of the neighborhood is the YMCA Chesley Skate Park, offering recreational programs for adults and kids.

The Mankato Public School District
The Mankato Public School District serves the neighborhood. Students can begin their education at Rosa Parks Elementary School, which scored a B on Niche. Students can also attend Prairie Winds Middle School and Mankato East High School, both of which received a B-plus from the site. Mankato East High offers after-school programs such as VEX Robotics, Planetarium Production Club and Link Crew Leaders.

Travel in White Oaks Park and beyond
Residents have easy access to downtown Mankato via Monks Avenue and Glenwood Avenue. Most locals use a car to get around, though Pohl Road is served by a bus stop and Stadium Road and Balcerzak Drive have bike lanes. MSU's Blakeslee Stadium, with a capacity of about 7,000, is about a mile and a half west of the neighborhood on Stadium Road. The Mankato Regional Airport is about 8 miles northeast of the neighborhood, though it's served by one airline. A broader selection of flights and destinations can be found in Minneapolis-St. Paul, about 80 miles northeast.
