Away from the city noise

White Oaks Park consists of curving streets and cul-de-sacs named for bird species, though sidewalks do not line each street. Homes here tend to be newer, with most built since the 1990s. Arts and Crafts styles, new traditional and ranch-style homes are most common. Prices range from $180,000 to $380,000 on homesites of less than a quarter-acre and $330,000 to $550,000 for similar homes but on lots up to an acre.

Surrounded by green spaces

Lion’s Park is a peaceful neighborhood reprieve with a playground, picnic tables and a paved walking path leading to MSU and threading through several surrounding neighborhoods. Anglers can cast a line for sunfish and crappie in Lions Lake. Located on Tanager Road, Wings Over White Oaks Park is a large green space with a handicap-accessible playground offering ramps and an adapted swing. Nearby is Goldfinch Pond, surrounded by mature trees. Just north of the neighborhood is the YMCA Chesley Skate Park, offering recreational programs for adults and kids.

Neighborhood pizza joints and nearby shopping hubs

Jake's Stadium Pizza is a family-owned local staple that’s been around since 1973, operating as a family business for three generations. “We were fast casual before fast casual was a category,” says co-owner Andrew Boyer-Kern. “It’s been that way for 50-plus years.” Just down the road is Shawarmania Mediterranean Grill, known for their authentic Middle Eastern fare. For groceries, there's an Aldi on Madison Avenue, about 2 miles north of White Oaks Park.
