While Mayfield Village offers highly rated schools and a charming small-town feel 20 miles east of downtown Cleveland, Angie Molitoris, a Realtor with RE/MAX Crossroads, says there are plenty of reasons that she’s sold over a dozen homes in the town since 2021. “The city services are great,” Molitoris says. “They pick up anything you put out on the curb, any branches and leaves. For the elderly, they provide snow plowing, and they provide free mulch for residents to come pick up. If you’re having a party, you can rent tables and chairs at no cost. They just have really great amenities.” This is all set against the green backdrop of the North Chagrin Reservation, home to thousands of acres of parks. While it offers this quiet atmosphere, its position along Interstate 271 adds convenience for travel to the mix, making it a popular Cleveland exurb.

North Chagrin Reservation is the neighborhood's backyard
One major attraction of the Mayfield neighborhood is the proximity of the 1700-acre North Chagrin Reservation, which features trails, a nature center and a 200-acre public golf course. “Some of the houses have the park literally in their backyard,” Molitoris notes. The reservation includes Squire’s Castle, a historical site built in the 1890s that is popular for weddings. Hikers and photographers alike enjoy the hike to Buttermilk Falls' scenic outlook. The Parkview Park Pavilion, located just outside the Reservation, includes a public pool and a large playground with a rubberized play surface.
For those who would like to bike one of the 60 trails the village offers, Mayfield Branch Library offers “Book a Bike,” where residents can borrow a bike for up to three hours. The library is adjacent to the Mayfield Village Pickleball and Tennis Courts, where residents can face off in tournaments or enjoy picnics under the gazebos.

Mayfield is characterized by winding roads past properties ranging from a quarter-acre to expansive multi-acre lots. Different parts of the neighborhood feature different architectural styles. The southeast portion of the neighborhood is populated by Colonial-style two-level and split-level homes among mature trees with sidewalks. In contrast, areas in the northeastern end of the neighborhood include ranch-style homes with fewer trees. In the southeast corner, sprawling mansions stand surrounded by acres of land. Most homes were built in the mid-1900s, although some new construction has added modern farmhouse-style homes to the neighborhood. Most properties sell between $350,000 and $450,000. However, older houses that need some love might start at $200,000. Larger estates, some with five or more bedrooms and offering over 5,000 square feet of space, cost between $750,000 and $1 million. Buyers must be prepared to move quickly - homes in Mayfield Village sell nearly 2 times faster than the US average.
