Maysville offers small-town living northeast of Atlanta
Maysville is a small city of than 2,000 residents located on the border of Jackson and Banks Counties. The community offers a selection of established single-family homes, but new home communities have also been constructed as the wider Atlanta Metro continues its development. The area has a small downtown with shops and restaurants, as well as several parks nearby. It is also close to the SK Battery America plant in Commerce, while several small manufacturers and a mill are in town.
A growing housing market with a variety of housing styles to pick from
Home architecture includes ranch and farmhouse styles, as well as New Traditionals and large Colonial Revivals. Manufactured homes are also present. “You get nicer lots and bigger-sized homes for almost half the price you get in Buford,” says Zoya Bardai, a real estate agent with Compass Real Estate, who sells in the North Atlanta market. “Families are moving there for a quieter environment compared to the city of Buford, where we have no space to build any homes.
Manufactured homes are between $75,000 and $200,000, while bigger single-family dwellings typically cost between $200,000 and $600,000. Mansions and other large properties can run between $1 million and $2.5 million. Some properties are overseen by a homeowner’s association.
Housing closer to the center of town is on gridded streets with smaller lots and oak trees accenting lawns. New inventory is being added especially in the Eagle Heights community.
Maysville has plenty of outdoor recreation and seasonal events
Maysville City Park features a playground, pavilions and fishing spots. A driving range is located on Highway 98. Hurricane Shoals Park has an amphitheater, a putt-putt course and a replica historical village. Events include a bluegrass festival in September at Hurricane Shoals Park. The annual Autumn Leaf Festival lasts three days and includes arts and crafts booths, children's games and food vendors.
The Jackson County School System is top-rated
Public school students can attend the top-rated Jackson County School System. The district does have magnet-like programs at specialty campuses, with placement contingent on a lottery. Out-of-district transfers are allowed as well. Maysville Elementary is well-rated and offers STEAM courses.
