There’s also access to the Metro’s Silver Line at Tysons Corner Center. Nearby Tysons Galleria offers a more upscale shopping experience with designer brands like Balenciaga, Chloé, Dior and Gucci. The Tysons area also hosts the headquarters of several major employers, including Booz Allen Hamilton, Capitol One and Hilton. The Tysons area employs over 120,000 people, putting it on par with business districts like downtown Denver and Detroit.To avoid the traffic near Tysons, Greenway Heights residents can head to McLean’s primary commercial corridor at the intersection of Chain Bridge Road and Old Dominion Drive. Fairfax County Public Schools serve Greenway Heights. Students can attend Spring Hill Elementary School and Cooper Middle School, both receiving A’s from Niche. There are many events in McLean throughout the year. McLean Day is one of the most popular, featuring carnival rides, live entertainment and food vendors. Greenway Heights is car-dependent; its seclusion draws residents. However, the suburb is highly accessible to city centers and transportation hubs. D.C. is about 10 miles north, and locals can get there using George Washington Memorial Parkway or U.S. Interstate 495, also called the Capitol Beltway. To avoid traffic, Silver Line Metro stations in McLean and Tysons Corner provide direct access to the nation’s capital, Arlington and Reston. Due to the neighborhood’s proximity to the Potomac, there are many lush outdoor spaces for residents to enjoy. Difficult Run Stream Valley Park follows its namesake waterway on the eastern side of Greenway Heights. Here, hikers can explore a network of scenic trails with views of cascading waterfalls and rock formations as hawks and woodpeckers fly overhead. For a more strenuous hike, the nearby Ridge and River trails lead to Great Falls National Park. Scott’s Run Nature Preserve is just east of Greenway Heights and spans nearly 340 acres. Here, visitors can wander an extensive natural trail system with scenic views. Waterfalls rush over shallow, rocky parts of the water, tall oak trees reach toward the sky and wildflowers blanket the forest floor.
