Traditional single-family homes
The eclectic nature of Crosstown is reflected in the neighborhood’s house stock, with a wide variety of single-family homes. “There weren’t a lot of building restrictions when they were building Crosstown, so you might have a bungalow next to a huge two-story home,” says Sowell. “Since it’s such a sought-after area, there are also fewer new homes.” Most homes were built in the early 20th century and sit side-by-side on modest lots, with an average lot size of about 7,000 square feet. Homebuyers can find three-bedroom bungalows with spacious front porches and attached carports for about $120,000 to $275,000, or four-bedroom Craftsman homes starting at around $300,000.Green spaces and a robust community center
Winchester Park provides a respite from the hustle and bustle of Crosstown with a grassy field for multi-purpose use, a playground and a swing set for kids to explore. Residents can also pay a one-time fee to become members of the Church Health YMCA. Centrally located in the Crosstown Concourse, the organization features a variety of fitness facilities, an outdoor pool and an expansive community garden.Choose from public or charter schools in Shelby County
Children in the area attend the Shelby County School District and kids in grades K-8 may begin their education at the Snowden School, which earned a C from Niche. Teens are zoned to attend the nearby Central High School, which earned a grade of C-plus and offers students a College Preparatory Optional Program that includes several honors and Advanced Placement courses. The county follows a General Choice Transfer process, meaning that students can apply to attend other public schools outside of their assigned pathway. The neighborhood contains several options, including public charter schools such as the Memphis Academy of Science and Engineering and Crosstown High School.Festivities at the Crosstown Concourse
Locals frequently gather at the Crosstown Concourse for opening receptions at Crosstown Arts, live performances at the Crosstown Theater and a variety of festivals. Popular events include the biannual Crafts and Drafts Festival, an outdoor market complete with live music, craft vendors and a beer garden showcasing drafts from local breweries.Travel by car, bus or plane

The neighborhood is anchored by the Crosstown Concourse, a former Sears warehouse that was converted into an eclectic mixed-use development in 2010. With apartments, shops, restaurants, creative spaces and more, the building has become an urban village where locals can live and play. The Mad Grocer and Deli sells grocery staples, while a collection of pharmacies, salons and medical providers cater to everyday needs. The space also boasts 14 restaurants, and the Global Café stands out as an international food hall with a rotating menu. A red spiral staircase leads up to Crosstown Arts, where residents can browse exhibits from local artists. Outside of the concourse, spots such as Flip Side Pinball Bar and Black Lodge – which doubles as the last video store in Memphis – contribute to the neighborhood’s vibrant nightlife. For groceries, the Midtown Shopping Center includes a Kroger.
