Deering Bay
Towering condos and lush ranch styles
This serene escape from the city offers an array of housing styles; many single-family Mediterranean and ranch-style homes can be found here. The community has various Italian-Mediterranean architectural-style residences, including townhouses, estate homes and five luxury condominium buildings. Residences in the area are a bit more expensive than other Miami homes, with three-bedroom condos going for 1.2 million dollars and larger 3,300 sq ft ranch-style homes fetching as much as 2.7 million dollars.Miami-Dade County Public Schools
Students in the neighborhood will often start their education at Howard Drive Elementary School, which receives an A-minus rating on Niche. Palmetto Middle School also receives an A-minus rating and offers a forensic science academy to students. The A-plus-rated Miami Palmetto High School is home to over 2,600 students and many notable alumni, including Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon.Chapman Field Park
Chapman Field Park is the largest park in the area and is fun for humans and dogs alike. The mile-long Chapman Trail offers space for a quiet, leisurely walk amid natural surroundings. The trail leads to the famous Chapman Trail Dog Park for locals with a canine companion. Dogs can run and play in this large, open area and then take a dip at the nearby Shoal Point, a secluded, dog-friendly beach. Visitors can find more nautical fun at the park’s kayak ramp. The park has also been undergoing renovations since 2021 and is working on the care and upkeep of its three baseball fields.Deering Bay Yacht & Country Club
Residents living on the golf course can have access to recreation right outside their doors at Deering Bay Yacht & Country Club. The club offers a 71-par Arnold Palmer-designed golf course that is considered attractive for onlookers and challenging for players. The club also features seven lighted tennis courts, a marina, a full-sized Olympic pool and a clubhouse with a fitness center. However, club membership is optional, with “only 20% of residents being part of the golf club,” according to Goldman, so the area is not just for athletes. The Falls minutes away
For a bite to eat, residents can head 5 miles to The Falls, an outdoor shopping mall on Pinecrest Parkway that offers many choices. Here, folks can opt for popular chains like Panera and Longhorn Steakhouse or local eateries such as Sokai Sushi Bar. Grocery shopping is available across the street from The Falls at The Fresh Market and Publix.
Miami’s golf carts and cars
In the Deering Bay community, many locals travel by foot or golf cart to get to the clubhouse or cruise around the neighborhood. “The beautiful winding streets offer a pleasant sight, and there is even some wildlife on the roads to see, like local birds or peacocks,” Goldman says. To reach Coral Gables, South Miami and The Village of Pinecrest, many residents quickly drive through scenic streets, with Southwest 67th Avenue and Old Cutler Road being the main thoroughfares. Miami International Airport is a 17-mile drive away for locals looking to escape the Florida heat. Jackson South Medical Center, known for its neurosurgery and new maternity suites, is about a five-mile drive away.
