Plenty of amenities in a temperate climate
Scenic and peaceful, Martha Lake is an urban community in Snohomish County just north of Seattle-Tacoma International Airport on State Highway 99. "[The area] has a lot to offer, like well-rated schools, light rail to Seattle and local favorite Alderwood Mall," says longtime Seattle resident and Realtor Emily Cressey with HomePro Associates, an expert in the Seattle region. The climate in Martha Lake is mild and pleasant. Winters are wet and cool, with temperatures rarely dropping below freezing, while summer temperatures typically reach the high 70s.
New construction homes are popular
Evergreen-lined streets meander throughout the neighborhood, with homes tucked into pockets of woodland and around the namesake lake. The neighborhood comprises developments with townhomes, condos and single-family houses. Architectural styles are a mix, including mid-century ramblers, bi-levels and contemporary new construction. Yard sizes run the gamut from a few thousand square feet to 1/3 acre, appropriate for gardens and sitting areas, and most homes have garages. "There are opportunities to buy a house on the lakefront," Cressey says. Prices in the area range from $500,000 for a rambler and up to $1.5 million for a home on the lake or with acreage. Most homes have garages, and sidewalks are predominant throughout. Not all areas have Home Owner Association dues; however, those that do pay anywhere from $65 to around $100 a month.
