Millersburg offers suburban living near growing manufacturing industry
Millersburg, a small community on the northern outskirts of Albany, is welcoming a significant new resident. The Ball Corporation, the largest aluminum can manufacturer in the world, will be moving into the city and opening more than 100 jobs, projected for mid-2026. Other manufacturing plants in Millersburg are conveniently located along Interstate 5, and the community was previously home to a significant paper mill that closed in 2009. Subdivisions north of the industrial corridor have easy access to jobs in Millersburg and Albany while retaining a peaceful sense of life. “It is a ZIP code of Albany, but it has that rural feel,” says Laura Gillott, a Realtor with over 30 years of experience and a principal broker with Keller Williams Realty Mid-Willamette. “It’s mostly detached houses with good-sized lots surrounded by farm ground.”

Contemporary Craftsman homes with large lots and extra parking
Carefully placed shrubbery and the occasional flower planting decorate the front lawns of New Traditional homes built after the turn of the 21st century. Many feature nostalgic Craftsman details, and prices range from $460,000 to $840,000. Lots in Millersburg go up to a third of an acre in size, with shaded patios and room for gardens and storage sheds in the back. “The other nice thing is that they have nice-sized lots,” Gillott says. “There’s more room for RVs, ATVs and trailers.” Street-parked cars are seldom seen in residential areas, as most homes have attached garages as well as extra parking space.
The CAP Index Crime Score in Millersburg is 2 out of 10; compared to the national average of 4.

Community parks and a wetland that treats water for the Willamette
Shade from expansive, leafy trees falls on picnic tables in Millersburg City Park, where there’s more seating under a massive wooden structure. Situated amidst the subdivisions in northern Millersburg, the green space offers basketball hoops, baseball diamonds, a sand volleyball court and tennis courts. To the south, along the Willamette River, the Talking Water Gardens is an engineered wetland habitat that mimics nature’s own cleansing and cooling processes to return safely treated water to the river. A collaboration between Millersburg, Albany and a metals manufacturer, the wetland promotes native vegetation, supports riparian wildlife and helps keep the river healthy. More than 2 miles of walking trails lead to water that tumbles over rocks and algae-coated pools.

“The Purple People Feeder,” and pool at Humpty’s Dump Bar and Grill
Oregon Barbecue Company, stationed in the southeast, industrial section of the community, started as a competitive barbecue team before it evolved into a violet drive-thru shack. Nicknamed the “Purple People Feeder,” the eatery specializes in barbecue chicken, pulled pork and brisket by the pound, and sides include fourth-generation, homemade potato salad, buttered corn and cowboy chicken chili. Farther north, Humpty’s Dump Bar & Grill has pool tables illuminated by various neon lights and a patio with foosball. Casual American fare, like burgers and crispy chicken tenders, is on the menu. WinCo Foods and Costco Wholesale are nearby.
