"An old-fashioned, old-school kind of community"
A large neighborhood park, frequent community events and a neighborly environment make Enderis Park one of Milwaukee’s most popular neighborhoods. “It’s an old-fashioned, old-school kind of community,” says Broker Cheri Kent of Resolute Real Estate, an eight-year Enderis Park resident. She also serves on the board of the Enderis Park Neighborhood Association (EPNA). “There’s a lot of pedestrian traffic. It’s loaded with families, dogs, babies and retirees. It’s very active, very social, very caring.” Many of its 4,600-plus residents have been in the neighborhood for decades. Some even hop from house to house within the community over the years, including Kent and her husband. “We call it ‘right-sizing’ within the neighborhood,” she says. “People move in, fall in love with it and stay.”

A green, activity-filled neighborhood hub
Enderis Playfield, the primary green space, occupies a sizeable plot at the neighborhood’s heart. “The park is definitely the hub of the neighborhood,” Kent says. Locals can easily walk there from most parts of the neighborhood. A large field makes up most of the southern half of the park, where visitors can play soccer, snooze beneath the trees or spot “Magic Grove,” a colorful steel sculpture and neighborhood icon. Two tennis and pickleball courts, a baseball diamond and a splash pad can also be found at the park. Meanwhile, Center Street Park fills about 5 acres to the south with a playground, pavilion and two softball diamonds.
Concerts on the Green bring the entire neighborhood together on Thursday nights in summer.

Concerts and farmers markets that draw hundreds
The EPNA facilitates year-round events at Enderis Playfield, most notably Concerts on the Green. This summer-long series welcomes four musical headliners — each with an opening act — to perform on the park’s central lawn. Hundreds from across the city attend each show. “It’s a big deal,” Kent says. “We have different food vendors with each concert. The bands are really good because Milwaukee has a really good pool of musical talent.” The Enderis Park Farmers Market runs every Sunday during the summer, offering locally produced food, crafts and more. Seasonal events include an Independence Day celebration, a fall festival and an Easter egg hunt.

Historic single-family homes and owner-occupied duplexes
Locals live on a mix of gridded and winding streets, all lined with sidewalks. Historic homes from the early 1900s appear throughout the area. These include many brick Tudor Revivals, bungalows with covered porches, stone-faced Colonial Revivals and Cape Cods with pairs of dormers. Ranch-style homes are present but less common. Duplexes appear occasionally, many with one owner-occupied unit and the other rented out. Turnkey homes start in the mid-$100,000s, which might buy a three-bedroom 1940s rambler over 1,100 square feet. Prices peak in the low $400,000s for larger homes with attached garages.
