Accessible, residential living while in proximity to downtown Milwaukee

Few neighborhoods in Milwaukee are more conveniently located for day-to-day workers and travelers than Mitchell West. About 7 miles south of downtown, Mitchell West benefits from direct access to several interstates to the west and the Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport (a prominent local employer) to the east. “You’re close to everything,” says Realtor Beth Jaworski of Shorewest Realtors, a lifelong Milwaukee resident. “People who have to go down to Chicago or Kenosha or Racine are right by the freeway. If you have to travel for work or you have to fly, you’re right by the airport.”

Ranch-style residential homes at Mitchell West

Close to 4,000 Milwaukeeans live in Mitchell West, in homes built mainly in the mid-20th century. Ranch-style homes are the most common architectural style, featuring various brick colors, patterns and finishes. Homebuyers will also find vinyl-sided split-level houses and a Cape Cod cottage here and there. Even a few small bungalows from the early 1900s (before the area’s post-World War II housing boom) can be found around the neighborhood. Condominium complexes also emerged in the southern section of the neighborhood in more recent decades. These tend to cost between $70,000 and $160,000, while detached homes cost up to the mid-$300,000s.
