Nash Park

Two language immersion schools within ½ mile
Milwaukee German Immersion School anchors Nash Park, meaning local students are always less than 1 mile from class. This public elementary school’s dual-language curriculum aims to get students near-fluent in German before middle school. Families can engage one-on-one with their kids’ education via several year-round events, including the December Wintermarkt (“Winter Market”). Students can continue their German studies less than ½ mile south at Milwaukee School of Languages (MSL), which accommodates grades six through 12. It also offers French and Spanish immersion programs and some Japanese coursework. Niche gives MGIS a C-plus overall, while MSL gets a B-minus.Centered around a 9-acre park
A large “Green Playground” opened behind MGIS in late 2023. It’s a stormwater-fueled area where students can explore nature and participate in outdoor classes on temperate days. Kids and adults alike can enjoy various amenities at the 9-acre Nash Park. This central green space features a tree-shaded walking path encircling a large lawn with two soccer fields. Those preferring baseball to soccer can easily walk to a practice diamond at the edge of the MGIS property. Meanwhile, youngsters can go nuts on the park’s tot lot while parents watch from a nearby picnic bench. From Cape Cods to Colonial revivals
Gridded residential streets comprise the bulk of Nash Park’s acreage, surrounding the Milwaukee German Immersion School (MGIS) and the neighborhood’s eponymous park. Modest, mid-1900s ranch-style homes and Cape Cods are the most common house types in the neighborhood. Each has a unique exterior of brick, stone, vinyl or some combination thereof. Older Colonial-style builds, bungalows and Tudor revivals are scattered throughout the community. Nearly every lot backs up to an alley and includes a detached garage or carport. Prices start in the low $100,000s for two-bedroom homes. Even the neighborhood’s largest properties — four-bedroom houses nearing 2,000 square feet — rarely exceed $300,000.One of Milwaukee's biggest fish fries
Being between Capitol, Lisbon and 76th means Nash Park locals are within blocks of dozens of businesses. Kam’s Corner Tap in the neighborhood’s southwest corner has been the area’s go-to bar since 2010. Every night, Kam’s serves handcrafted cocktails for patrons to enjoy during pool and pinball games. Just west on Lisbon Avenue is Lisbon Café, a simple American diner with classic breakfast and lunch dishes. Businesses along Capitol Drive to the north include Dunkin’, Dollar Tree and Walgreens. Residents can quickly drive to Pick ‘n Save, Aldi and Sentry Foods for groceries.
Direct routes to downtown, Wauwatosa and more
Downtown Milwaukee is about an 8-mile drive southeast via Lisbon Avenue. Seventy-sixth Street leads south to Wauwatosa, while Capitol Drive carries drivers east to Shorewood or west into Waukesha County. A few bus stops line Capitol and 76th, with service every 15 minutes.Environmental factors to consider in Nash Park
According to Risk Factor, flooding is particularly likely near the intersection of Keefe Avenue and 78th Street, just south of the park. The neighborhood’s eastern section along 76th Street is the most prone to noise pollution.
